5 Solo Travel Tips
Here are 5 tips for solo travelers (especially WOC) One of my favorite things to do is solo travel. I’ve traveled all around the world by myself and learned some tips and tricks to stay safe 🌎
1. Ditch Airbnb 🏠 - it’s becoming more dangerous (especially for women) to stay at a random persons house. Spend the extra $50 and stay at a secure hotel or bed and breakfast 🍳 I promise the money will be worth your safety.
2. Share your location📍- make sure at least 3 of your loved ones know your whereabouts. This is especially important when you’re traveling to nature spots in the middle of nowhere. Somehow I always end up being attracted to these locations 😂 This is why I let people know where I’m traveling in case of emergency.
3. Hike in large groups 🌋 - hike in the daytime and in large groups. I’ve gotten lost on a 10 mile hike in the middle of the desert and it was NOT fun. Thank goodness it was during the day time otherwise I would have been out of luck. Be smart and hike popular trails during peak seasons to avoid getting lost.
4. Download the “All Trails” app 🏞️ - again, getting lost on a trail is NOT fun. Make sure your battery is charged and download the All Trails app to make sure you stay on track. Also bring water and snacks. I’ve made the mistake of not doing this and regretted every minute of it. Don’t be me.
5. Take lots of photos 📸 - I regret not taking more photos of myself during my travels. This year I am making a point to take more photos no matter what. I’m sure when I have kids I’ll have 1,000s of photos to share 🤳
Safe travels to all of you and hoped this helped 🙂
