Tú sabrás en quien confiar
Recently, I came across a thought-provoking phrase that really made me reflect on the nature of trust and how we perceive the intentions behind what people say to us. The phrase highlighted an important distinction: while the devil knows your name, he calls you by it. On the other hand, God not only knows your name but calls you by it, even recognizing your mistakes but still addressing you personally. This resonated deeply with me because it emphasizes the importance of discerning not just the words we hear but also the source and underlying intent behind those words. In everyday life, it’s common to encounter various opinions, criticisms, or advice, some of which may come from ill intent or misunderstanding. Learning to differentiate whether the message is meant to harm or to help is crucial in maintaining healthy relationships and protecting our own wellbeing. I have found that when criticism or negativity tries to break me down, it often lacks compassion or true understanding—much like the phrase suggests, the ‘devil’ calling you by name without care. Conversely, when support and encouragement come from a genuine place of love or care, it acknowledges our flaws but still sees our value. This is similar to the idea that God knows your errors but still calls you personally, reminding us that true trust is built on acceptance, understanding, and kindness. For anyone struggling with knowing who to trust, remember that it’s not just about what people say but how and why they say it. Observing whether the message invites growth or merely creates doubt can be a helpful guide. This insight has helped me choose my confidants wisely and foster stronger, more authentic connections. Trusting someone is an act of vulnerability, but it should be a conscious one, based on recognizing the true source and intention behind their words.
