After undergoing a double spinal fusion two years ago, I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear—it involves ups and downs, moments of strength, and times when vulnerability takes over. Recently being diagnosed with degenerative joint disease in my left hip has added a new layer to my experience. Hip injections, while helpful, can be uncomfortable and sometimes leave you feeling achy or tender for a while afterward. It’s important to listen to your body and allow yourself the necessary rest. I found that taking a day for self-care—like tidying my space, doing skin care rituals, or simply journaling—helps me regain balance and mentally prepare for upcoming challenges like surgery. Juggling full-time work, motherhood, and personal health issues can be overwhelming. What’s helped me the most is openly sharing my journey, connecting with others who understand, and practicing gratitude even when things are tough. Using this as an outlet for real talk and authenticity allows me to not feel alone on this path. If you’re on a similar journey, know that it’s okay to have mixed feelings and that taking small steps toward healing each day is a victory. I encourage anyone dealing with spinal or joint surgeries to keep a detailed diary of how you feel after treatments or injections. This helps track progress and gives valuable insights for discussions with your doctors. Remember, you don’t have to go through it silently. Sharing experiences creates a supportive community where healing, motivation, and self-love thrive together.
