These are the timeless, always-reliable school supplies every student should keep in their bag, on their desk, or stashed in their dorm drawer aside from the oldie but Goldie pencils and sticky notes (equally as important, but we already know that!). Because running out of whiteout right before turning in an assignment? YIKES. 👀

📝 Here’s my go-to list of evergreen supplies that never stop being useful:

✅ Highlighters– Perfect for color-coding notes & boosting memory retention.

💡 Pro tip: Aim for packets that have several colors so you can color-code and make a system out of your notes. For example, green = definitions and pink = examples/real-world applications.

✅ Whiteout– For those “oops” moments mid-paper ✍🏾.

💡 Pro tip: if you ever run out of whiteout and need to turn something in, DON’T scribble over it. Instead, draw a straight line through it, initial and date it!

✅ Daily planner– To keep your to-do list from becoming a disaster.

💡 Pro tip: Try to use the entire thing before buying a new one. Trust me, a cute planner IS TEMPTING, but use what you have before wasting a few extra bucks on an aesthetic.

✅ Wall calendar– Big picture view = fewer missed deadlines!

💡 Pro tip: A dry erase or chalkboard type is best as you won’t have to buy a new one each year compared to the ones where you have to rip out the paper!

✅ Notebooks– One for each class or topic = clarity.

💡 Pro tip: Decide what type of notebook you’re going to use for each subject based off what makes sense for the course AND your learning style. For example, a composition notebook may be great for science, wide-ruled for history, and college-ruled for a foreign language. Tailor this to what works best for you!

✅ Pens & pencils– Obvious but still underrated!

💡 Pro tip: Use pens for permanence and pencils for practice. Always carry an extra pen or pencil and a good eraser. Also, get a good grip and smooth ink! Use gel pens for smoother writing and fine-tip pens for more detailed notes.

✅ Binders & dividers – Perfect for organizing handouts, syllabi, and class notes!

💡 Pro tip: Use dividers to separate units, topics, or lecture vs. homework and label each divider clearly with subject names or chapters. Try to use sheet protectors for important documents like rubrics or semester checklists.

✅ Sticky notes, index cards, and binder clips– Trust me, these save lives mid-semester!

💡 Pro tip: Use these for better organization and simplicity! Sticky notes = mini study guides as you can use them for definitions, formulas, or last-minute reminders. Additionally, index cards make great flashcards as they can be used for active recall and spaced repetition.
