paid off one of my loans today 😭💚

honestly this one felt bigger to me than it probably looks on paper. i remember when i first took this loan out in 2023..i was stressed about money and just trying to give myself some breathing room financially. at the time it felt like something i was gonna be paying forever.

today i finally paid it off and i’m not even gonna lie… i reopened the app like 5 times after just to look at the balance gone 😭

i still have financial goals i’m working toward and i’m definitely not where i want to be yet, but moments like this make me realize how much my mindset has changed. i used to avoid checking my accounts because money stressed me out so bad. now i actually track everything, plan things out, think about saving, investing, paying things down, building stability… all the things i used to feel too overwhelmed to even start.

my biggest goal honestly is just to create a life where money doesn’t feel heavy all the time. i want peace, options, freedom, savings, investments, travel, all of it 🥲 little by little i’m trying to build that for myself.

anywayssss this felt like a really good win today 😭

... Read morePaying off a loan can feel like climbing a mountain, especially when it starts as a source of significant financial stress. I remember feeling overwhelmed when I first took out my loan in 2023, worried that it would be a burden for years. But letting it go changed my approach to money altogether. Tracking my balance and seeing the payoff reflect in my account felt empowering — it was proof that consistent effort pays off. What helped me most was committing to regularly reviewing my finances, even when I used to avoid it because of anxiety. By embracing budgeting tools and financial apps, I gained clarity on where my money was going and how to optimize it. This active engagement transformed my mindset from fear to control, motivating me to plan for savings, investments, and a more stable future. The payoff amount — nearly $900 on May 8, 2026 — was more than just a number. It represented a step towards building peace of mind and financial freedom. My credit report shows my total open balances and loans, but this victory confirms that paying down debt is possible, even when it feels daunting. Having clear financial goals, like creating a life where money feels less heavy, really fueled my determination. Every small win—whether paying off a loan segment or setting aside savings—adds up to lasting change. Sharing this journey with others encourages accountability and hope, showing that success is within reach for anyone willing to try. If you’re stuck in debt or overwhelmed by finances, start small. Track your spending, set realistic goals, and celebrate progress. Making money your friend instead of a source of stress can lead to freedom, options, and the chance to enjoy life much more fully. Keep pushing—your payoff day will come too.

A tablet displays a debt payoff dashboard. Overlay text introduces 'Student Loans 101' and outlines three key comparisons: Public vs Private, Subsidized vs Unsubsidized, and PLUS vs Parent PLUS loans.
This image compares Public and Private student loans. Public loans are from the US Dept. of Education, require FAFSA, and may defer payments. Private loans are from lenders, require credit checks/cosigners, have higher rates, and may require in-school payments.
This image differentiates Public Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans. Subsidized loans have lower, fixed interest, with the government paying interest while in school. Unsubsidized loans are similar but the government does not cover accruing interest during school.
