🤍 My Story: Prioritizing myself was one of those things you think you do, with ease. A no brainer, right? It’s simple enough to understand but an extremely hard thing to actually do. After my last relationship, it was the hardest thing I’ve done. Not because I didn’t want to, I just didn’t know how! After years(yeah, years!) I can whole heartedly say I am doing just that, prioritizing myself to the fullest. Some may think years is an outlandish amount of time, but there is no timeline to your healing. No one gives you a guide to figuring it out and there is no need to rush through it. Feeling all the feels and taking it one stinkin day at a time.

🤍 How I Felt: While in the trenches of doing all that prioritizing and healing, I was STRUGGLING! I had highs, lows, and everything in between. So many people say heartbreak and a mental/emotional shift won’t kill you but it sure does feel like you’re dying inside. You probably will or at least that version of who you used to think you were. My heart physically hurt(or that’s at least what I felt ). It was debilitating to make progress and then a few days later go through a whole crash out. I felt crazy !(lol) how can I have such a shift from one moment to the next. So how did I even start? Girl! I was TIRED of feeling sad and I decided to put all that energy I was exerting into crying and thinking, the pain I was feeling into something productive for myself- full force. Reminding myself how strong and constant I showed up for others, why not show up for me?! That kept me showing up for my runs, motivated me to cook healthier, sleep more, etc. To this day, I have to keep reminding myself to keep showing up for me!

🤍 My Takeaways: It’s not going to be a quick change, but the struggle you feel is not going to be forever. Each day you choose to do something that benefits you, you’re already further along in prioritizing you than before. Small acts of service to yourself make a big difference. Loving who you are or becoming will open your mind and confidence in so many levels! ❤️ keep at it because the joy you’ll feel is unmatched!
