Moved to Seattle and loving it!
When I first moved to Seattle, I was instantly captivated by how easily you can escape into nature. It's not just about the iconic Mount Rainier, though that's definitely a must-see! I've spent countless weekends exploring, and I wanted to share a bit more about what makes Seattle's natural landscape so special and accessible. Beyond Mount Rainier, which offers breathtaking alpine views and fantastic hiking trails, there are so many other incredible spots right at Seattle's doorstep. For a quick city escape, I often head to Discovery Park. It’s Seattle’s largest urban park, and you can find everything from forest trails to stunning beach walks with views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It's truly a gem for a morning stroll or an afternoon picnic. If you're up for a slightly longer drive, Rattlesnake Ledge is another local favorite. It's a relatively short but steep hike that rewards you with panoramic views of Rattlesnake Lake and the surrounding mountains. It's perfect for a half-day adventure and definitely gets your heart pumping! For those who love forests and waterfalls, the trails around Snoqualmie Falls are beautiful, especially in the spring when everything is lush and green. And if you're willing to make a full day trip, Olympic National Park offers an entirely different kind of wilderness, from temperate rainforests to rugged coastline – it’s an absolute game-changer. One thing I've learned about exploring nature in Washington is to always be prepared for anything! The weather can change quickly, so layers are your best friend, even on a sunny day. A good pair of waterproof hiking boots is non-negotiable, and always carry water and some snacks. I also swear by a reliable trail map app, as cell service can be spotty in some of the more remote areas. What I truly love about Seattle's nature is its diversity. You can be enjoying a vibrant city one moment and then, within an hour's drive, be completely immersed in old-growth forests, majestic mountains, or a serene coastline. It's an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, and every season brings its own unique beauty. Whether it's chasing waterfalls in spring, alpine lake swims in summer, vibrant foliage in fall, or crisp, quiet forest walks in winter, there's always something new to discover. I hope this inspires you to get out there and explore the incredible natural wonders surrounding Seattle!
