Letting myself become Soft

For years, I wore strength like armor.

Not the kind that’s celebrated in poems and love songs—but the gritty, survival-mode strength that doesn’t get to rest. The kind that doesn’t have the luxury of falling apart. That strength carried me through heartbreaks, betrayal, disappointments, and the heaviness of learning to be everything for myself.

I’ve always had an escape plan. Always thought five steps ahead. I’d study the patterns, mirror the logic, and harden my heart with the belief that if I could think like a man, maybe I wouldn’t get hurt like a woman.

But here I am now, standing in front of this new version of me that I want to step into—and it’s softer. Not weak. Just… soft.

I don’t want to be on defense all the time. I don’t want to question every compliment or think that every kind word from a man is being recycled from a conversation he had with someone else. I want to believe in good intentions again. I want to let someone love me without feeling like I’m giving away control. I want to feel safe enough to be feminine—graceful, radiant, warm.

And yet, it’s hard.

Because softness isn’t my default.

Because feminine energy has always felt like vulnerability—and I’ve had too many moments where vulnerability turned into a wound.

But I’m learning that I can be soft without being naive. That I can be loved and still be independent. That letting someone take care of me doesn’t mean I’m losing who I am—it means I’m allowing space for connection, for receiving, for rest.

So, I’m trying.

Trying to embrace this gentle, intuitive side of myself that I’ve tucked away.

Trying to let go of the belief that I have to do everything alone to be respected.

Trying to let love in—not just romance, but the love in silence, in stillness, in surrender.

I will always be strong.

But now, I’m choosing to be strong enough to be soft.

To be open. To be radiant. To let love feel good instead of like a threat.

And maybe, just maybe, I’ll find that this softness isn’t the opposite of power—

…it’s another form of it.

... Read moreThe concept of softness often intertwines with femininity, bringing forth a delicate yet powerful essence of being. Many individuals find themselves conditioned to equate strength with hardened resilience, ignoring the beauty in vulnerability. Yet, embracing one's softer side can lead to profound personal growth and emotional freedom. Current discussions around feminine energy suggest that being soft does not equate to being weak; rather, it can signify a strength that leads to healing. It is essential to acknowledge that allowing yourself to be soft opens up a pathway for genuine connections with others. By embracing this approach, individuals can cultivate higher self-acceptance and emotional intelligence. This change can be particularly empowering in today's fast-paced society, where the pressure to constantly perform can be overwhelming. Learning to navigate life with an open heart creates space for joy, love, and a nurturing inner dialogue. Softness involves understanding and tempering the instinct to guard oneself against potential hurt. As many have found, vulnerability allows not just for deeper relationships but also for a robust sense of self that recognizes the importance of both strength and softness. Ultimately, by leaning into this softer version of ourselves, we embrace a holistic power that isn’t defined by fear or guardedness, but instead by openness and connection. Harnessing this balance can result in a more fulfilled, radiant existence.
