Bedtime stories my boys picked this week🥰

My boys love when I read bed time stories before they sleep; it’s become a staple in our bedtime routine! I love the ones we read this week and wanted to share them!

📕 Arthur’s pet business by Marc Brown: I read all the Arthur books when I was younger and I’m so excited to to read them to my little ones! In this book author runs a pet business to show his parents he’s responsible enough to have a puppy!

📕 My fridge, my fist book of foods by Margie and Jimbo: This book is super cute. It goes through all the things you could find in a fridge like milk, eggs, veggies, fruit, juice, etc. It’s a great book to help teach children about food.

📕 Super Mario by little golden book: This cute little book gives a quick rundown about the mushroom kingdom and some of the characters you’ll find in Mario’s world. My 3 year old is a big fan of this one

📕 Arthur’s birthday by Marc Brown: Another great Arther story about creating special moments and being around loved ones. Arther has a party the same day as one of his friends making them both question who will be at their party.

📕 Grumpy monkey’s little book of grumpies by Suzanne Lang: This sweet book is great at showing emotions! Grumpy monkey feels grumpy, really grumpy, mad, then sat as he becomes more overwhelmed. The book shows that sometimes the simplest things are what we need!

📕 Have you seen my cat by Eric Carle: This book can says “have you seen my cat? This is not my cat” on almost every page. However, each cat is a different species of cat! This book is great for identifying different animal, and it’s repetitive so young ones and babies will love it.

📕 Arthur babysits by Marc Brown: Last book of the week goes to Arther again! This time Arther is tasked with babysitting a set of naughty twins. It shows how Arther used his problem solving skills to make it through a night of baby sitting!

I love reading with my boys, I love it even more when I read what they pick out! Reading is important to child development and learning. I can’t wait to see what we read this week!!

... Read moreIt’s truly incredible how a simple stack of books can transform bedtime into a magical adventure. As a parent, I’ve found that creating a consistent reading routine is one of the best gifts you can give your little ones. It’s not just about the stories; it’s about the cuddles, the shared laughter, and those precious moments of connection. One series that always brings smiles to our faces is the Arthur books. My kids absolutely adore them, and I totally get why! Books like Arthur's Pet Business are fantastic for teaching responsibility in a fun, relatable way. Watching Arthur work so hard to prove he's ready for a puppy really resonates with kids longing for a pet. Then there's *Arthur's Birthday*, which beautifully explores themes of friendship and understanding. It’s a great conversation starter about navigating social situations and realizing that sometimes, things don't go exactly as planned, but you can still make special memories. These stories offer gentle lessons wrapped in charming illustrations and characters that feel like old friends. They're definitely among my 3-year-old's picks! Beyond the specific stories, the act of reading itself is so powerful. To make our "reading time" extra special, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. We always dim the lights, get cozy under a big blanket, and sometimes I’ll even use different voices for the characters. Letting my boys pick the books is key – even if it means reading Super Mario for the hundredth time! It empowers them and makes them more invested in the story. For my 20-month-old's picks, books with lots of repetition, like *Have You Seen My Cat?*, are perfect for engaging their developing minds and helping them identify new things, like different animal species. Another wonderful book that’s been a hit is *Grumpy Monkey's Little Book of Grumpiness*. It's brilliant for helping kids understand and express their emotions. We often talk about how Grumpy Monkey feels and what makes him feel better. Sometimes, pretending to be a "mad monkey" or showing a "grumpy" face can turn a simple story into an interactive play session. These kinds of books are invaluable for building emotional literacy early on. Similarly, My Fridge, My First Book of Foods has been a fun way to introduce new vocabulary and talk about healthy eating in a super simple, visual way. The beauty of bedtime stories is that they're more than just words on a page. They're a launchpad for imagination, a quiet moment before sleep, and a cherished family tradition. Every week, I look forward to seeing what adventures my boys will choose next. It's truly the best part of our day.
