Our spring to do list!

Spring is so close with only about 9 weeks of winter left!🥰 I want to share what we have on our spring bucket list and hopefully give you some ideas on what you and your family can go do! I’m so excited for warmer weather and longer days to be back🥹

Spring is from March 20th to June 20th and I’ll list below the things we’ll be doing in between that time!🥰 I also am splitting this bucket list into two this time; things we’ll be doing out of our home or our surrounding area and a list for things we’ll do either at home or close by!

✨ The wiggles concert

✨ Visit Fair oaks farm

✨ Attend birthday parties

✨ Visit the museum of ice cream, Chicago

✨ Visit the Indianapolis zoo

✨ Go to a drive in movie

✨ Have a picnic

✨ Dye eggs

✨ Visit the farmers market

✨ Visit the creek

✨ Grow butterflies

✨ Go berry picking

✨ Plant a pollinator garden

✨ Pick veggies

I can’t wait to see what else we’ll be doing during this spring season🥰

... Read moreIt's so exciting to finally feel that hint of spring in the air, isn't it? While my family and I have our favorite go-to activities, I've also been thinking about how to add even more magic to our spring bucket list, especially for those days when the weather is a bit unpredictable or we just want to try something new! More Outdoor Adventures to Explore: Beyond the classic berry picking and farmer's market visits, spring is the perfect time to truly embrace nature's reawakening. We love going on 'nature scavenger hunts' in our local park or even our backyard. It's simple: make a list of things to find – a feather, a specific type of leaf, a smooth rock, a budding flower. It turns a regular walk into an exciting discovery mission for the little ones! Another idea is to visit a local botanical garden or arboretum. They often have special spring blooms and events, and it's a beautiful way to spend an afternoon surrounded by vibrant colors. If you have areas with small streams or 'patches of snow' melting away, exploring those can be a fun early spring adventure, seeing how the landscape changes. Just remember to dress in layers for those chillier days! Rainy Day Rescues & Indoor Fun: Let's face it, spring weather can be fickle! One minute it's sunny, the next it's pouring. That's why having a list of indoor activities is a lifesaver. While visiting an 'indoor entertainment area' with arcade games is super fun, we also love getting creative at home. Think about a 'Spring Craft Day' where you make flower collages from dried leaves and petals, or paint rocks to decorate your garden. Baking together is another fantastic option – spring-themed cookies or a fresh fruit tart can be a delicious way to spend a drizzly afternoon. We've also discovered the joy of 'library adventures.' Many libraries have amazing children's sections, story times, and even free workshops or events that are perfect for those indoor days. It’s a great way to discover new books and keep minds engaged. Learning & Community Engagement: Spring also brings so many opportunities for learning and connecting with the community. Have you ever looked into local community gardens? Sometimes they offer plots or volunteer opportunities, which can be a wonderful way to teach kids about where their food comes from, even if you don't have space for a 'pollinator garden' at home. Keep an eye out for local spring festivals or craft fairs – they are usually packed with fun activities, local vendors, and often live music. It’s a lovely way to support small businesses and enjoy the festive atmosphere. We also enjoy trying simple science experiments related to plants, like watching seeds sprout in a jar or observing caterpillars before they become butterflies – it ties in nicely with 'growing butterflies' and makes learning hands-on and exciting. These additions ensure that our spring is packed with variety, making the most of both sunny days and unexpected showers. Every moment is a chance to create beautiful family memories!
