Thoughts on marriage…

I’ve been thinking about how God redeemed me and washed me clean from fornication. We live in a society that makes it seem okay to have sex outside of marriage. I was with my now husband for 14 years before we got married, and once we were married, something changed in me. I can’t explain it any other way than this: God washed me clean and I was redeemed.

Here are three of the many things I’ve learned about marriage so far:

1. Marriage belongs to God and His Kingdom and the enemy knows this!!! The enemy is after your marriage and we have to stay alert and in prayer. Know your Word and speak life over your marriage and your husband (def recommend this book šŸ‘†)

2. When the Word says, ā€œHusbands, love your wives,ā€ and ā€œWives, submit to your husbandsā€ (Ephesians 5:22–25), it is calling us to be Christlike… dying to the flesh, sacrificing, and loving the way God loves us. Of course, this is very difficult to do, but the reward in striving for it is so beautiful.

3. God’s plan was perfect when He created us male and female. Our roles complement each other, and if we followed our biblical design, this world would be a much better place. Women play a pivotal and powerful role in marriage. The Bible says, ā€œFor how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband?ā€ (1 Corinthians 7:16). It speaks to husbands too, but I truly believe a woman of faith can shift the spiritual atmosphere of her home. We are called to nurture and in doing so, we have the privilege of covering our husbands and families in prayer. When we pray, things change. God moves, and chains break.

Thank you, Father, that You thought of every detail and your ways are always higher.

... Read moreMarriage is a sacred bond that goes beyond a legal contract; it is a covenant designed by God. In today's world, societal norms often challenge the sanctity of marriage, making it crucial for couples to ground their relationship in biblical truths. Strengthening a marriage involves active participation both spiritually and practically. The Bible emphasizes mutual love and respect between partners. Husbands are called to love their wives selflessly, mirroring Christ’s love, while wives are encouraged to support and nurture their husbands, fostering a climate of respect and cooperation. Furthermore, the book 'The Power of a Praying Wife' by Stormie Omartian resonates deeply with many women of faith, highlighting how prayer can influence their marriage positively. Engaging in prayer can invite God's presence into relational challenges, creating opportunities for healing and growth. As wives pray for their husbands, they not only intercede on their behalf but also cultivate a spirit of unity and understanding at home. Understanding gender roles from a biblical perspective is also crucial. The Bible outlines distinct roles, suggesting that when both partners fulfill their godly purposes, it leads to a harmonious household. A woman’s influence can be powerful in shaping the spiritual atmosphere, as she nurtures her family through faith and prayer. By embracing these teachings, couples can experience the richness of God's design for marriage, paving the way for lasting joy and fulfillment in their relationship.
