... Read moreI totally get that feeling of pure joy when September hits and it's officially spooky season! For me, Halloween isn't just about costumes and candy; it's about cozy nights in, surrounded by all the magic and mischief of my favorite festive films. And honestly, Disney+ becomes my go-to streaming service because it has such a treasure trove of nostalgic and new Halloween movies. That's why I always end up making a personal watchlist – it saves so much time scrolling, letting me jump straight into the fun! When it comes to my top picks, some movies just scream "Halloween" louder than others. Take Hocus Pocus and its sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, for example. These are absolute classics I revisit every year. There's just something so enchanting about the Sanderson sisters and their accidental resurrection – it's a perfect blend of comedy and spooky fun that never gets old. They're my go-to for a lively movie night with friends! Then there's the beloved Halloweentown series. Oh, the nostalgia! Watching Marnie discover her family of witches and fight evil in Halloweentown always brings back such warm, fuzzy feelings. And don't even get me started on Halloweentown II where Marnie has to battle a warlock who stole a magic spell book! These films are fantastic for a family movie night, striking that perfect balance between spooky and sweet. For something a little different, The Haunted Mansion is a wonderfully eerie choice. I love how it takes a family trapped in a haunted house and turns it into an adventure filled with quirky ghosts. It’s got just enough jump scares and mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat without being truly terrifying, making it a great option if you're looking for spooky but not overly scary. And who could forget The Nightmare Before Christmas? Jack Skellington's quest to understand Christmas, after becoming bored with Halloween, is such a unique and visually stunning story. It's a fantastic watch that bridges both the Halloween and Christmas seasons, perfect for those transition weeks! Another gem I always recommend is Twitches. It’s a delightful story about reunited twin sisters who discover they have magical powers. It's empowering and magical, making it a great watch for anyone who loves fantasy and a good dose of sisterhood. To make your Disney+ Halloween movie night truly special, I’ve picked up a few tricks over the years. First, snacks are essential! Think themed treats like "monster" popcorn (green food coloring!) or pumpkin spice cookies. Second, set the mood with some cozy decorations – string lights, faux spiderwebs, and maybe even a few scented candles can transform your living room into a perfect spooky haven. And don't forget to use Disney+'s search function directly; it's super helpful if you know exactly what you're looking for, or if you want to explore their "Halloween" collection page for even more hidden gems like shorts or special episodes of your favorite shows that aren't full-length movies. I hope my extended watchlist and tips help you create your own magical spooky season experience on Disney+. There’s truly something for everyone, whether you’re into lighthearted magic or slightly spookier tales. Happy watching!
