🍓Fresas con crema Recipe🍓
Cream
•2 cups of heavy whipping cream
•1 cup of sour cream
•1 can of lechera
I whip the heavy whipping cream and then mix in the sour cream and lechera! I suggest you start by adding the lechera little by little so it’s to your preference🫶
Strawberries
•2 cartons of strawberries
•2 tbsp of sugar
•1 tsp of vanilla extract (I used the Mexican vanilla blend)
Once I add the sugar and vanilla extract I let the strawberries sit for at least 10 mins before serving🙋🏻♀️
One of the joys of making Fresas con Crema is how easy it is to customize the sweetness and creaminess to your liking. When I first tried this dessert, I found that starting with a light hand on the sweetened condensed milk (lechera) lets you control the flavor balance, especially if you prefer it less sweet. Whipping the heavy cream to soft peaks before folding in the sour cream gives the mixture a lovely, light texture that pairs beautifully with the tartness of the strawberries. Using fresh, ripe strawberries can elevate this simple dish to something special. If you like your fruit extra juicy, letting the strawberries sit with sugar and vanilla for at least 10 minutes helps to bring out their natural sweetness and create a delicious syrupy base at the bottom of your serving bowl. I personally love using Mexican vanilla extract for its rich, warm flavor which adds an authentic touch. For an extra twist, some like to add a splash of lime juice or a sprinkle of cinnamon to the strawberry mix, which introduces a subtle contrast to the sweetness. This dessert is perfect for summer gatherings or as a light treat after meals. It’s also very forgiving, so you can experiment with the ingredients until you find your favorite version. Enjoy your creamy and fruity Fresas con Crema!
