Bringing Pearl home, my second Ragdoll kitten, has been an absolute dream! If you're wondering if Ragdolls truly live up to their 'lap cat' reputation, I can tell you firsthand, they absolutely do. Pearl, with her striking light-colored fur and beautiful blue eyes, is already proving to be the ultimate cuddle bug. From the moment I picked her up – she was wrapped in a colorful blanket inside the car, looking directly at the camera with those innocent eyes – she seemed to melt into my arms. That instant bond is something so special about this breed. It’s not just about her being held; it’s the way she actively seeks out close contact. She’s often found curled up right beside me, or even better, right on my lap, making herself completely at home and purring contentedly. People always ask me, 'Are Ragdolls really that affectionate?' And I always say yes! My first Ragdoll taught me that, and Pearl is just reinforcing it. They thrive on human companionship and genuinely enjoy being part of your daily activities, often preferring to be physically close. I've noticed she loves being cradled like a baby, and when I'm just relaxing, she'll often climb onto my chest or lap for a snooze. There’s nothing quite like the gentle weight and constant purr of a Ragdoll on your lap, is there? It’s pure comfort and truly warms your heart. Encouraging this lap-cat behavior isn't hard with Ragdolls because it's so innate to their loving nature. However, I always make sure to provide a calm, loving environment right from the start. Gentle petting, soft voices, and just generally being present and attentive really helps solidify that bond. I also make sure she has comfortable spots around the house, like her grey cat tree where she loves sleeping curled up on the top platform. But, without a doubt, her absolute favorite spot is definitely my lap or shoulder, as you can even see from my mirror selfies where she sometimes sticks her little tongue out in pure contentment! Having a second Ragdoll means double the love, double the entertainment, and yes, double the lap time! It's incredible to see how they interact, play, and how much joy they bring into our home. If you're considering a Ragdoll, especially if you're looking for a cat that truly loves to be held and will happily become your shadow, following you from room to room, I can't recommend them enough. Pearl has truly captured my heart with her sweet nature and constant desire for snuggles.
