Troceaths (Open Species)
Please lmk if you make your own alien fellas! #openspecies #originalspecies #alien #originalcharacter #originalcharacterspecies
OMG, you guys, I just stumbled upon the coolest new open species called Troceaths, and I had to share! If you're like me and constantly looking for fresh inspiration for your next alien OC, then you absolutely need to check these out. They're described as 'humanoid squids or octopi,' but trust me, there's so much more to them than just that. It's such a unique concept, and it instantly got my creative gears turning! What I love about open species like Troceaths is that they give you a fantastic starting point without limiting your creativity. You get a rich foundation โ like their fascinating 'history and biology' โ but then you have all the freedom to design your own character within that universe. It's like having a sandbox created for you, but you get to build your own amazing castle inside it. For anyone new to creating original characters, or even seasoned artists looking for a new challenge, this is perfect. The creator has put in months of work, and it really shows. There's apparently a whole YouTube video diving deep into 'what Troceaths are,' their lore, and all the intricate details of their biology. I'm definitely going to watch that to get a better grasp of the species before I finalize my OC's design. Understanding their natural habitat, how they communicate, or even specific physical traits beyond just 'squid-like' will help make my character feel truly alive and integrated into their world. And here's the best part for us visual creators: there's a 'Picrew for that, too!' How awesome is that? A Picrew is such a great tool for brainstorming and quickly visualizing different aspects of your character. I'm already envisioning mine โ maybe some vibrant bioluminescent patterns, or unique tentacle arrangements. Being able to play around with different colors, markings, and accessories quickly will save so much time in the initial design phase. It's also super helpful if you're not confident in your drawing skills but still want to bring your 'Troceath' to life visually. So, if you're thinking of making your own Troceath, here are a few tips I'm planning to use: Dive into the Lore: Watch that YouTube video! Knowing their 'history, biology' and general culture will give your OC depth. Are they peaceful or fierce? Solitary or communal? Play with the Picrew: Experiment with different features. Don't be afraid to try weird combinations. What kind of 'humanoid squid' appeals most to you? Think Beyond Appearance: Give your Troceath a personality, a unique skill, or a compelling backstory. What's their motivation? What challenges have they faced? Get Inspired: Look at real-life squids and octopi for inspiration on colors, textures, and adaptations. How can you translate those into a fantastical alien? Share Your Creation! The creator specifically asks us to 'tag me' if we make one. It's awesome to be part of a community and see how everyone interprets the species. I'm so excited to see everyone's designs and share mine once it's ready!
