# The Summer Solstice CallingThe sun burns highest
******
The sun burns highest in the sky,
Litha's fire blazes bright,
While shadows whisper nervously—
"Your time has come tonight."
She's watched from corners, learning long,
The elder witches' ways,
But now the circle turns to her
On this longest of days.
Her hands still shake as she holds the staff,
Oak and ash intertwined,
The responsibility weighs heavy
On her eager, untried mind.
"Step forward, child," the High Priestess calls,
"The wheel demands its turn,
What you have studied in the shade
Must now in sunlight burn."
The flames dance higher, gold and red,
Reflecting in her eyes,
She feels the ancient power stir—
No longer a surprise.
Her voice rings clear across the grove,
No tremor, doubt, or fear,
The words flow like honey mead
For all the coven to hear.
She calls the quarters, casts the space,
Her magic strong and true,
The summer spirits answer back—
They've been waiing for her too.
When morning comes and fires fade,
The circle knows its choice,
A young witch found her power here
And gave her calling voice.
The sun may set on Litha's peak,
But something new was born—
A leader rising with the light
Of summer's golden dawn.

The summer solstice, known as Litha, is a time of celebration and growth in many cultures. It marks the peak of sunlight and the perfect occasion for various rituals and ceremonies. This moment is traditionally associated with the strength of the sun, fertility, and the abundance of the earth's gifts. Celebrants often engage in bonfires, rituals that promote healing, and the honoring of nature's spirits. Many follow the ancient practices of creating herbal offerings and decorating their spaces with flowers and greenery to connect with the earth and elevate their spiritual energies. Moreover, the vibrant connection to the sun during Litha acts as a reminder of our intrinsic powers, encouraging individuals to find their path and voice, echoing the journey described in the poem. This solstice moment reflects personal growth and renewal, making it a significant time to set intentions for the coming months. By embracing the power of the sun and its life-giving energy, practitioners are inspired to manifest their dreams and connect deeply with the natural world around them. Whether through personal reflection or community gathering, the summer solstice serves as a potent reminder of the light and growth that each individual embodies.
