cheetah print tutorial | nail art
step 1: tan french tip ~ i like to use a light beige color or just a regular tan as my french tip color!
step 2: brown dots ~ i use a dotter tool (a small sized one) and make irregularly shaped dots that are decently spaced out
step 3: outline dots in black ~ i use a dotter tool for this as well (a size smaller than the one for the dots) and do different type outlines on each dot!
step 4: add in dots ~ i do this with a small dotter tool just in between my leopard spots; i use black gel polish
that’s how i make my cheeta print on nails, super simple and quick to do!! let me know if you want to see any other tutorials
Hey fellow nail art lovers! I'm so excited to share some extra tips for mastering those chic cheetah print nails, especially if you're like me and often rock shorter nail lengths. When I first started trying this design, I wondered if it would look as good on my shorter nails as it did on longer ones I saw online. Good news – it totally does, with a few tweaks! First off, let’s talk tools. While the original tutorial mentions dotting tools, I've found that having a couple of different sizes is a game-changer. For the initial 'brown dots,' a slightly larger dotting tool helps create that organic, irregular shape. But for the 'black lines outlining' and those tiny 'small black dots' in between, a super fine detail brush or a smaller dotting tool (think toothpick-tip size) makes all the difference. I even sometimes use the very tip of a bobby pin for the tiniest dots – it's a fantastic hack for precision! When it comes to polish, I prefer using gel polish for the dots because it doesn't dry instantly, giving me a moment to perfect the shape before curing. If you're using regular polish, try to work quickly and perhaps use a quick-dry top coat after each layer of dots to prevent smudging. For the base, a 'tan French tip' is classic, but don't be afraid to experiment! I’ve tried pastel pink or even a soft gray base, and then done the leopard spots in complementary colors like deep rose and black, or silver and charcoal. It still gives that animal print vibe but with a unique twist, adding more variety to your 'nail art designs' repertoire. For those with 'leopard nails short,' my biggest piece of advice is to scale down your design. Don't try to fit too many spots on one nail. Instead of cramming five big spots, aim for three smaller, well-placed spots and fill in the gaps with the tiny black dots. This makes the design look less cluttered and more elegant on a smaller canvas. Remember, the beauty of cheetah print is its organic, imperfect nature, so don't stress about making every spot identical. The irregularities are what make it look authentic! Finally, to make your beautiful 'cheetah print' last, nail prep is key. Always start with clean, dry nails, and a good base coat. After all your dotting is done and completely dry (or cured, if gel), seal it all in with a high-quality top coat. For extra shine and longevity, I usually do two layers of top coat. This protects your hard work from chips and keeps your 'cheetah print nails' looking fresh for days! Give these tips a try, and you'll be rocking stunning animal print nails in no time!
