Solo Date Adventure ๐
On a rare Connecticut win, the weather was great today. So I took a day off and took myself out on a solo date! ๐
I went to Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, hoping to see their tulip garden in full bloom. I didn't get to see it (it was a short season ๐ญ), but I still enjoyed my time there!
I walked around a bit and took in the sights. The park is so pretty, even without all the flowers. I even saw a family of geese!
Since I had my tripod with me, I couldn't pass up an opportunity for an impromptu photoshoot ๐ . After taking a bunch of pictures, I found a quiet spot in the shade, rolled out my picnic blanket, and started on a new book!
That's all I had for you today!

Inspired by my recent solo adventure to Elizabeth Park, I wanted to dive deeper into why solo dates are such a game-changer for my well-being, and maybe give you some ideas for your own tranquil escape! Thereโs something incredibly empowering about dedicating time just for yourself, whether itโs to explore a new spot or revisit a beloved one. Itโs a chance for self-reflection, to truly go at your own pace, and to discover things you might miss when you're with others. It helps me recharge and connect with myself, especially after a busy week. Elizabeth Park, even without the full tulip display I hoped for, proved to be an absolute gem. If youโre planning a visit, especially to catch those vibrant blooms, timing is everything! While I missed the peak tulip season this time around (it's often early to mid-spring, depending on the year), the park is renowned for its incredible Rose Garden. I saw signs about the 'History of Roses' and 'Heritage Roses' which made me eager to come back when they are in full glory, usually from late June through September. Imagine strolling through those archways covered in climbing roses โ it truly sounds 'So Dreamy!!!' There's also that beautiful gazebo under a weeping tree, perfect for quiet contemplation or a moment of shade. Beyond the specific floral displays, the park itself offers so much: serene walking paths, tranquil ponds (where I spotted some geese!), and plenty of benches to simply sit and observe the world go by. Each season brings a different kind of beauty, so even if you miss one bloom, there's always something new to discover. For anyone considering a solo date in a park or similar natural setting, here are a few tips I've picked up. First, embrace the quiet. Itโs not about rushing from one point to another, but about soaking in the atmosphere. Let your mind wander freely. Second, bring something that sparks joy for *you*. For me, itโs a good book on my Kindle โ I was engrossed in 'The Graham Effect' during my last visit, and it was the perfect companion! Having a comfort item like a picnic blanket makes any spot feel like your personal sanctuary, whether itโs under a shady tree or by the water. Don't forget your tripod if you love capturing memories; itโs perfect for those impromptu photoshoots without needing to ask anyone. I love being able to set up my shots exactly how I want them. Lastly, allow yourself to wander. Sometimes the best discoveries are made when you least expect them. Maybe itโs finding a new favorite reading nook, stumbling upon a hidden path, or simply enjoying the rustling leaves and birdsong. These moments are what make solo dates so special and fulfilling. Theyโre an investment in yourself, reminding you to appreciate the simple beauty around you and within you, and to celebrate your own company.
