Finding Out I’m Pregnant

Finding out I was pregnant was an emotional rollercoaster for me, especially as a Black woman. Initially, I felt fear rather than excitement, which is not something often openly discussed. The reality is that pregnancy can bring a complex mix of emotions—from anxiety about health and systemic disparities to the overwhelming joy of anticipating a new life. At 20 weeks, the ultrasound revealed we were having a baby boy, which felt like a turning point in my journey. It was not just a gender reveal but a moment of deep connection and affirmation. Seeing that 'IT'S A BOY!' on the screen brought joy after the initial shock, and helped me embrace this blessing. Pregnancy as a Black woman carries unique challenges, including concerns about maternal health disparities, access to quality care, and cultural expectations. Sharing openly about these feelings helped me find community and strength. Connecting with other Black mothers and learning about their experiences made me realize I was not alone in my fears or hopes. Documenting my path through clips and posts allowed me to process emotions authentically—from realness to celebration.
