MY TOP MATCHA/COFFEE rankings for JB Cafes!
As a coffee and matcha lover, it’s my daily dose and I can’t function without caffeine 😂🌚 So, I was on a hunt to find good coffee and matcha.
Below are my top 3 rankings:
📍 Hiritsu Coffee Roastery
Pretty amazed by their dirty latte—the milk was cold enough, the coffee was strong and fragrant, and the peach americano was pretty good too! Love the whole vibe of the place, would want to try their sandwiches 🥪 By far, it’s the top 1 cafe for me in JB.
📍 Eden Wizards
Probably you guys have alr tried it before, but the highlight was the dirty matcha latte 😋 The espresso, matcha, and milk blend so well together without overpowering one another. This was the highlight among everything, although the risotto was yumz too!
📍 Principle Cafe
A quite well-known franchise cafe. Only had a drink and bread there. On the pricey side compared to the rest, BUT they have a pistachio dirty latte!🌰
Enjoy cafe hopping, if you are also a coffee/matcha lover ☕️🍵
As someone who lives for a great caffeine kick, exploring Johor Bahru’s cafe scene is both exciting and rewarding. The places featured in my top 3 rankings each offer something unique that keeps me coming back. At Hiritsu Coffee Roastery, the dirty latte stood out for me because the cold milk balanced the intense, aromatic coffee perfectly. The peach americano is also worth trying if you’re after something fruity but still refreshing. I’ve noticed the retro vibe of the café adds to the entire coffee experience, making it a cozy spot to hang out or work from. The hidden gem atmosphere really makes it feel like you’ve discovered a secret. Eden Wizards impressed me mostly with their dirty matcha latte. The espresso, matcha, and milk combine in a harmony that’s rare to find — no one flavor overwhelms the others. Beyond drinks, their food offerings, especially the prawn risotto, pack a punch of flavor and freshness, scoring very high on my taste scale. Be mindful of peak hours though; it tends to get crowded, so visiting during off-peak times means less waiting and more relaxing. Principle Cafe, a known franchise, offers a slightly pricier experience but compensates with specialty drinks like the pistachio dirty latte. Even their focaccia with three kinds of spread, including truffle butter, blew me away with its softness and flavor. Though the space is limited and gets busy, the quality of coffee and the comforting food options make it worth a visit if you’re in the area. If you’re a matcha or coffee enthusiast, Johor Bahru’s cafes offer more than just a caffeine fix — they provide an experience worth savoring. From hidden boutiques to established franchises, the variety is exciting. I highly recommend exploring these spots and seeing which flavor combinations and atmospheres best suit your palate and vibe.
