All About Skin Tags

... Read moreSkin tags are quite common and often harmless, but understanding their causes and care can help manage them better. From my experience, skin tags tend to appear in areas where skin frequently rubs together, such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and groin. This friction, combined with factors like genetics, diabetes, weight gain, pregnancy, and insulin resistance, can increase the likelihood of developing skin tags. When I first noticed a cluster of skin tags, I was concerned about whether they could be contagious or cancerous. Fortunately, skin tags are not contagious and generally do not pose a risk of cancer. However, it’s always important to monitor any changes and consult a healthcare professional if a skin tag changes color, bleeds, or grows rapidly. For removal, I found that visiting a dermatologist for safe medical removal is the best option. Methods such as snip removal, freezing (cryotherapy), and cautery (using heat) are quick and usually done within minutes under local anesthesia, providing fast healing with minimal discomfort. These professional treatments minimize the risk of infection and scarring. Although there are at-home removal methods available, such as tying off the skin tag or using over-the-counter products, caution is necessary. Incorrect techniques like cutting or using unsafe materials can lead to infections and complications. Proper aftercare is crucial: keep the area clean, use recommended ointments, and cover it to protect from irritation. Overall, skin tags are a common skin issue that can be managed effectively with professional advice and proper care. If you notice any unusual changes or discomfort, seeking medical help ensures safe and effective treatment.

I've had all mine removed twice. I was so mad because they only cut them off. They all grew back plus more.
