Why are people on this app so rude???

Can people not agree to disagree, and not make a comment on everything they don’t like? Or literally be nasty about things randomly? I swear the last video I watched was a girl being proud of her body and someone commented “yeah but when’s the last time you ate though..” LIKE GIRL??? Be ffr.. #rude #equality

... Read moreIt really grinds my gears when comment sections turn into battlegrounds. Like, seriously, why do people feel the need to be so rude online? I've noticed it everywhere, and it’s especially annoying when someone’s just trying to share something they're proud of, only to be met with hate comments. It makes you wonder if some folks forget there's a real person behind the screen. From my own experience, it feels like the internet often strips away basic respect. People seem to say things they'd never utter face-to-face. Maybe it's the anonymity, or perhaps the lack of immediate consequences, but it allows for a level of negativity that can be truly disheartening. I've seen so many instances, even discussions around important topics like LGBTQ+ content, devolve into pointless arguments and absolute vitriol. It’s frustrating when you see conversations that could be genuinely insightful just collapse into a cesspool of negativity. The original post mentioned someone body-shaming, and that really resonated with me. It’s a classic example of how quickly things can turn nasty. Instead of constructive feedback or even just quietly scrolling past, some users jump straight to tearing others down. It’s not just about disagreeing; it’s about actively trying to hurt someone with words. And for what? A fleeting moment of perceived superiority? It makes me question the state of online communication and why so many people resort to such tactics when they could be promoting equality and understanding. Navigating these online comments sections where people are constantly arguing can be exhausting. My personal strategy has evolved over time. First, I try to remember that not every comment deserves my energy. Engaging with blatant rudeness or hate often just fuels the fire. Sometimes, the best response is no response at all. Blocking or muting accounts that consistently spread negativity has also been a game-changer for my own mental well-being. It’s about curating your online space to be as positive as possible. I also try to remind myself of the 'golden rule' that I learned growing up: treat others as you wish to be treated. It sounds simple, but it applies so much to online interactions. Before I type a comment, I ask myself if I’d be okay receiving that message. If we all took a moment for that reflection, maybe some of the hate comments and unnecessary arguments would disappear. It's about fostering respect, not just for others, but for the online community as a whole. Let's try to build each other up, not tear each other down.
