... Read moreOkay, so after my initial run-in with the amazing Dollar Tree garden section, I just had to share more details about what treasures you can actually find! A lot of you asked, 'Does Dollar Tree really have good gardening supplies?' and the answer is a resounding YES, especially if you're like me and just starting out or looking to save some cash.
One of the biggest questions I hear is about potting soil. Yes, Dollar Tree does carry potting soil! I saw bags of general potting mix, perfect for repotting small plants or starting seeds indoors. While I didn't spot specific 'coco coir' bags labeled as such, their potting mix was affordable and looked decent for basic needs. It's definitely worth checking out if you need a quick, budget-friendly option for your planters.
And let's talk about the seeds! Oh my goodness, the variety! They had a whole tall display stand dedicated to non-GMO seed packets. I saw everything from common veggies like chives, cilantro, beans, beets, and carrots, to beautiful flower seeds like African daisy and cosmos. For herb lovers, they even had specialty seed packets for hot peppers, mild peppers, lavender, parsley, sage, thyme, and radish. If you're looking to start an herb garden, this is a fantastic place to grab a few packets without breaking the bank.
Beyond just packets, they also had those complete grow kits, which are perfect seed starters. I grabbed a strawberry and tomato kit, but I also saw basil, sunflower, daisy, and coneflower kits. These 'Gardening Made Easy!' boxes are awesome because they usually come with everything you need – a pot, soil, and seeds – in one package. Super convenient for beginners who don't want to buy everything separately.
Beyond the basics, I noticed other handy dollar store gardening supplies. They had smaller pots and planters, definitely suitable for those initial stages of growth. I even spotted plant food spikes, which are super simple to use for giving your indoor plants a little boost. For those who love a touch of whimsy, they had a section of fairy garden accessories, including miniature gnomes, mushrooms, birdhouses, and tiny bridges – so cute for adding character to your potted plants!
And for watering, remember those queries about 'show me pitchers'? While I didn't see traditional watering pitchers, they had these adorable glass spray bottles, or 'misters'. These are fantastic for gently watering seedlings or misting tropical plants that love humidity. They come in so many colors too!
Seriously, if you're on a budget or just curious about gardening, don't overlook Dollar Tree. Their garden section is constantly surprising me with what's available. Prices are mostly $1.50 and up for many items, but for the value, especially for a beginner, it's a steal. I'm already planning what I'll grab next!
