... Read moreOh, Montreal! Thinking back to my summer trip in August still fills me with so much joy. The city truly has a vibe unlike anywhere else, and the cultural richness is just breathtaking. If you're planning a visit to Canada, especially during the warmer months, Montreal should absolutely be at the top of your list. I promise, you won't regret it!
What truly makes Montreal unforgettable in the summer? For starters, the sheer amount of festivals and outdoor activities is incredible. Everywhere you turn, there's music, art, or delicious food. Strolling along the wooden boardwalk near the waterfront, with the iconic Ferris wheel sparkling in the distance, was one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon. The city transforms into this lively, open-air playground, perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying the energetic atmosphere.
And let's talk about the culture! Stepping into the Notre-Dame Basilica was an experience I'll never forget. Those intricate blue and gold vaulted ceilings, the stunning rose window, and the richly decorated altar bathed in blue light – it's absolutely mesmerizing. Even if you're not particularly religious, the architectural grandeur and historical significance are profound. Wandering through Old Montreal, where grand classical stone buildings with columns and domes stand proudly beside more modern high-rises, you really feel the layers of history and innovation that make this city so unique.
Beyond the sights, Montreal's culinary scene is a huge draw. From cozy cafes to sophisticated dining, there's something for every palate. One evening, I remember unwinding at a spot (it might have been Deville, though I can't quite recall the name for sure!) and enjoying a vibrant orange cocktail garnished with a lemon slice and fresh mint. It was the perfect refreshing treat after a day of exploring. Don't even get me started on the poutine – a must-try! The food scene here is just as diverse and exciting as the city itself.
For my trip, I packed for comfort and style, ready for both city exploration and nights out. I took quite a few mirror selfies in my hotel bathroom, admiring the clean white marble-tiled walls and the sleek black vanity – it's always fun to document the journey! From a simple navy jersey and khaki shorts for daytime adventures to a chic white textured crop top and matching skirt, or even a long, light green form-fitting dress for evenings out, I loved experimenting with my travel style. Seeing the city come alive at night, with illuminated buildings, trees, and cars creating a stunning aerial night view, made every outfit feel perfect. Capturing these joyful moments on instant film photos with friends was the cherry on top, creating tangible memories.
My summer in Montreal was truly a highlight. The city’s effortless blend of European charm and North American vibrancy, its beautiful cultural sites, delicious food, and incredible energy make it a destination I’d recommend to anyone. I'm already counting down the days until I can go back and experience those amazing vibes all over again!
