It's truly a journey to live a life that honors God, and sometimes we need clear guidance on what to embrace and what to avoid. I've personally found deep wisdom in Proverbs 6:16-19, which outlines 'seven things the Lord hates' or 'things that God detests.' Understanding these isn't about fear, but about aligning our hearts with His, fostering a stronger relationship, and living a more purposeful life. Let me share my reflections on each, and how we can practically apply this wisdom daily. First is Haughtiness (Pride). The OCR mentioned it as "thinking one is better." For me, pride can be subtle – a quiet belief my way is best, or reluctance to admit a mistake. I've learned true humility isn't thinking less of myself, but thinking of myself less, focusing on God and others. Cultivating gratitude and serving others combats this. Remember, "God hates pride" because it separates us from Him. Next, Lying. The OCR highlighted how lying damages trust. I've seen how even small "white lies" erode relationships. God values honesty and integrity, reflecting His nature. My practice is to strive for absolute truthfulness, even when uncomfortable, knowing integrity brings freedom. "God hates liars" because it distorts reality. Then there's Murdering innocent lives and, as the OCR notes, "even hate in the heart." This reminds me God looks at intentions. While physical murder is extreme, harbouring deep anger, resentment, or unforgiveness can be a 'murder of the heart.' It’s a continuous challenge to release bitterness and choose forgiveness, praying for those who have wronged me. The fourth is Scheming (A Heart that devises wicked plans). Our minds can easily wander into negative or manipulative thoughts. I've realized the importance of guarding my thoughts, filling my mind with good, pure things. Before acting, I pause and ask: "Is this born out of love and justice, or a 'wicked plan'?" This 'stop and think' moment is invaluable. Following that is Eagerness to do wrong. The OCR describes "rushing toward sin without thought of damage." I can relate to impulsive urges. My approach now is to create a 'space' between impulse and action – a quick prayer, stepping away, or talking to a trusted friend. Choosing what is right often means actively resisting the easy, wrong path. Sixth, False witness. This extends beyond legal testimony to gossip, slander, and spreading rumors that damage reputations. The OCR says it "deeply hurts God." I've learned how quickly words can hurt. Now, I ask: "Is this true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?" before speaking about others. Protecting others' names is a profound way to show love. Finally, Stirring up conflict. God desires peace and unity. I've certainly contributed to unnecessary drama. My goal now is to be a peacemaker: listening more, understanding perspectives, and choosing to de-escalate. It's about building bridges, not walls. Reflecting on these '7 things God hates' from Proverbs 6:16-19 has profoundly impacted my daily walk. It's a constant call to self-reflection and a commitment to align my heart and actions with His. By striving to avoid these pitfalls, I believe we can all live a life that not only pleases Him but also brings immense joy and peace.

I struggle with pride and stirring up conflict, that's something I need to pray about
