Best hotels in Dublin

Oh wow I love Dublin. It might be my favorite city in all of the Europe to visit for a weekend. I'm not sure if it's because everyone is overly friendly or just because I deeply love a pub crawl. There is truly something about Dublin that just feels like home and I think everyone should visit if they can. Now when you do eventually go to Dublin its crucial you pick a hotel that is centrally located but, not right by a pub that blasts music all night long. On my first trip to Dublin I stayed right next to Temple Bar and I will say I barely slept at all. If I didn't have a flight to catch the next day I probably would have gone downstairs to join them because it wasn't like I was getting any sleeps anyways. Anyways all of these hotels are carefully vetted and in great areas where you can be in a pub in mere minutes but, actually get some sleep if you want. ... Read moreBuilding on my initial thoughts, Dublin truly holds a special place in my heart, and it's not just for the legendary pub crawls! While those are definitely a highlight, there's so much more to this vibrant city that makes it feel like home. If you're planning your first (or fifth!) visit, let me share a few more insights to make your trip even more memorable. Beyond the bustling nightlife, Dublin is steeped in history and culture. I always recommend carving out time for a leisurely stroll through St. Stephen's Green, especially on a sunny day – it’s such a peaceful escape right in the city center. And speaking of history, don't miss a visit to Dublin Castle or the stunning Chester Beatty Library, which often gets overlooked but is absolutely breathtaking. If you're staying at a hotel like the Arthaus Hotel, you're practically neighbors with Trinity College, making it super easy to pop over and see the Book of Kells. Trust me, it’s worth the queue! For those who love a good meal, Dublin’s food scene has really blossomed. While a traditional pub lunch is a must (think hearty stews and soda bread!), explore some of the city's newer eateries. I've found some incredible spots for brunch and modern Irish cuisine that perfectly blend tradition with innovation. And of course, you can't leave without trying a pint of Guinness – but try it in a traditional pub, not just any bar. The atmosphere makes all the difference! If you venture out, you might stumble upon lively spots like the area around Dame Tavern, which is buzzing with energy. Getting around Dublin is surprisingly easy. Most of the city center is wonderfully walkable, which is why choosing a centrally located hotel is key. But for longer distances, the bus system is extensive, and there's also the Luas tram. I always grab a Leap Visitor Card – it just makes everything smoother and means less fumbling for change. My biggest tip for anyone visiting Dublin, especially if you're looking for that perfect balance of fun and relaxation, is to embrace the local pace. Dubliners are incredibly friendly, so don't hesitate to strike up a conversation. They often have the best hidden recommendations! And remember my advice on hotels: while being close to the action is great, ensuring you have a quiet retreat like The Wilder Townhouse or The Dean for a good night's sleep will make all the difference to your energy levels for exploring. The Mont and The Alex are also fantastic options that offer that perfect blend of boutique charm and convenient location without sacrificing peace and quiet. Dublin has a unique charm that invites you to linger, explore, and simply enjoy the craic. I hope these extra tips help you fall in love with it just as much as I have!
