Don’t make this budget travel mistake

I went to Bosnia back in June because social media told my friend it was a hidden gem. Now I personally had no idea where Bosnia but I said yes reluctantly knowing we would only be there a few days before going to Montenegro. Once I knew we were going I quickly did some research and found a few articles saying that Bosnia was a hidden gem. While yes there a few beautiful areas most of the country has not recovered from the war and is rather run down. And while you would think they would be happy to have tourists they actually were very unfriendly and would have preferred if we weren’t there. Again social media is right that is cheap like $100

a night but its also the only country in Europe I have ever truly felt unsafe. And the craziest thing is they have their own currency but they literally had no atms to withdraw money from. I think its funny because if you capture the right moments like I did in the pictures its idealistic but in reality it’s very unsafe and unfriendly. Basically what I’m saying is don’t trust everything you see on social media and for now skip Bosnia. There are plenty of other beautiful and safe budget friendly destinations in Europe. #travelwithme2024 #lemon8partner #Lemon8 #budgettravel #traveltips

This article highlights the importance of conducting thorough research before planning your trip. Although Bosnia may seem like an affordable destination, many travelers have reported feeling unsafe and unwelcome. With a rich cultural history and beautiful landscapes, there are other European locations that provide a more pleasant travel experience without the risks associated with Bosnia. Consider places like Portugal, Hungary, or the Czech Republic, which offer both safety and charm. Before you book, it's crucial to check recent travel advisories and genuine traveler reviews. In addition, ensure that you are aware of the local currency and payment options, as some destinations may not have readily accessible ATMs. Engaging with reputable travel communities and reading diverse opinions can also guide you towards more enjoyable and secure experiences. Remember, not every picturesque location seen on social media reflects the reality on the ground. Choose wisely for a memorable and worry-free journey.

Thank you for this-I’m old and never been out of the country but don’t feel safe unless it’s the obvious countries that would protect tourists
