Cities in Italy I would skip

Now I have been very privileged to have been all over Italy and it’s truly a beautiful country. I would go back in a second but, there are a few cities I don’t want to go back to. I will say Venice is a bit controversial but, I really don’t like it. It feels so touristy and everything is just difficult. That’s one thing you should know about me I don’t like difficult things. I don’t want to have to drag my suitcase or search for a restaurant that isn’t a tourist trap. I know I’m a tourist but I still want food that’s good. I just think everything about Venice is difficult. Now O have been three times so I think I’m good. The other two cities I won’t go back to are Parma and Bologna. Both are home to some of the best food but, in general there isn’t much to do. If you’re going to pick one I’d do Bologna but still it’s not worth it. The hotels aren’t great and it’s not the cleanest city. I’d gladly go back for lunch because the food is just that good but I wouldn’t spend a few nights there. The other city I wouldn’t go back to is Parma.

If I was to go back to Parma I’d book a cheese tour. I was dumb and assumed Parma was a cute dairy town it’s actually a college city. Now none of these cities are actually terrible I just think there are better! Let me know in the comments which city in Italy you wouldn’t go back to.

Italy
2024/10/15 Edited to

... Read moreItaly is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and delicious cuisine. However, even in this beautiful country, certain cities may not live up to the hype. Venice, often hailed as a romantic escape, can be overwhelmingly touristy and expensive. With its narrow streets and crowded attractions, it often lacks the charm visitors seek, making visitors feel like they are just part of the crowd. Many tourists find it challenging to find authentic dining options, often ending up in overpriced restaurants that cater to visitors rather than locals. Bologna, despite being known for its culinary excellence, presents its own challenges. It has a reputation for great food, but the city often falls short in terms of cleanliness and overall ambiance. Many travelers find Bologna lacks certain visual appeal and can be unsettling in areas that don't feel as safe. It's worth visiting for a good meal, but staying overnight may not be as rewarding. Parma, famous for its cheese, can be misleading for first-time visitors expecting a quaint dairy town. Instead, it's a bustling college city with limited attractions for the average tourist. While food tours can be enjoyable, the city itself does not offer much in the way of engaging sights. Travelers may want to prioritize destinations like Florence, Rome, or the Amalfi Coast that truly reflect Italy's charm and provide memorable experiences. Remember, when selecting cities to visit in Italy, consider not just the food, but also the overall environment, cleanliness, and safety. Always do thorough research to avoid disappointment!
