Self care as a FTWM

Simple self-care doesn’t always look like spa days or bubble baths—sometimes it’s just the basics that keep me grounded as a working mom and nurse. Brushing my hair (even if it ends up in a bun), a quick swipe of makeup to feel a little more like myself, a giant iced coffee that may or may not still have ice by the time I finish it, and chugging water like my life depends on it (because it kind of does). Add in a few quiet minutes outside—barefoot in the grass, sun on my face, kids running wild—and that’s the reset I didn’t know I needed. Just a reminder that taking care of you doesn’t have to be complicated. 🌿☕👩‍⚕️💦 #WorkingMomLife #NurseMom #SimpleSelfCare #toddlermom #ftwm

Effective self-care consists of simple, consistent practices that help maintain physical and mental well-being amidst a hectic schedule. One critical aspect is prioritizing hydration with nutritious, hydrating drinks and savoring a coffee from a favorite coffee shop at least once a week—this not only provides an energy boost but also acts as a small personal indulgence. Maintaining personal grooming, such as getting nails done regularly, can be a non-negotiable ritual for many working moms, serving as an important moment of self-recognition and care. Likewise, the ritual of brushing hair and applying a quick swipe of makeup can foster a sense of productivity and self-confidence—key psychological benefits for moms working outside the home. Moreover, carving out time for family during days off and enjoying outdoor activities can enhance emotional wellness and create positive memories. Simple activities like walking barefoot on grass, feeling the sun on the face, and observing children’s carefree play support a mental reset and deeper connection to nature. Incorporating these simple yet meaningful self-care routines can help FTWMs reduce stress, improve mood, and sustain energy levels. Recognizing that self-care does not require complexity but consistency makes it accessible for busy nurse moms managing toddlers and work commitments. Prioritizing these small moments ensures that moms maintain balance, resilience, and well-being in their multifaceted roles.
