How to Draw from Reference 🫶🏾
I did a sketch study the other day and said I would post the step by step of how I go about doing pose anatomy by sketching from reference so here it is!
I find that rough sketching things and cleaning it up later is so much easier for me than the typical way people do this. I have a perfectionistic mindset when it comes to my art so when I’m drawing and trying to get it right the first time, it’s hard for me to commit to the drawing because I get frustrated when it’s not coming out the right way the first time.
I have another way that I go about sketching from reference that Ialso find helps me I’ll do a step by step on that the next time I do a drawing with that method.
I don’t think I’m going to do a “finish” this one. I’ll just add it to my digital sketch diary 😌

Sketching from reference can significantly enhance your artistic skills. Start with loose strokes to establish proportions without the pressure of perfection. This method allows for mistakes as part of the process, encouraging a more relaxed approach. Once satisfied with the initial sketch, lower the opacity and refine your lines. Focus on key areas, such as hair and facial features, to enhance depth and detail. Don't forget to experiment with shading and highlights for a more dynamic look. Remember, the goal is to enjoy the creative process, so treat each piece as an opportunity to improve and learn. Embrace the imperfections, and let your style evolve! For those interested in digital art, utilizing software tools can make this process smoother. Layers allow you to adjust sketches freely, facilitating better experimentation before finalizing your artwork. Harnessing digital techniques alongside traditional methods can foster a well-rounded skill set in sketching from reference. Share your journey with other artists online and connect over your experiences to inspire each other further!

THAT IS SO GOOD!
