Produce tips!

Hi friends! ☺️ been super busy with work but I’m back!

These produce tips have saved my fruits and veggies. I seemed to be constantly tossing fruit and veggies because they went back before using them.

For fruit, place them unwashed , in a glass jar with a lid. Wash as you eat and they stay fresh for 2-3 weeks!! For banana, wrap the stems in plastic wrap to keep them from turning brown fast.

Veggies like asparagus and broccoli, place them in a glass jar and fill with water. Broccoli put a lid on, and asparagus no lid, but cut the ends off first!

Fresh herbs and spinach wrap in a dry paper towel. Place herbs back in the original container and they’ll stay fresh for weeks. Spinach wrap in paper towels and place in a ziplock bag, keeping it fresh!

Understanding the best storage methods can significantly prolong the life of your produce. For fruits, storing them unwashed in a glass jar can keep them fresh for up to 2-3 weeks; wash just before consumption to maintain quality. Special attention should be given to bananas—wrapping their stems in plastic wrap prevents premature browning, ensuring they stay ripe longer. Vegetables like asparagus and broccoli thrive in a glass jar filled with water. Ensure to cut the ends of the asparagus for optimum moisture absorption and remember, broccoli benefits from being covered with a lid, while asparagus should be left uncovered to breathe. Additionally, retaining the freshness of herbs and spinach can be done by wrapping them in dry paper towels; storing them back in their original containers or in zip-lock bags keeps them crisp for weeks. These tips not only help in saving money but also contribute to a healthier lifestyle by ensuring access to fresh produce regularly. Implementing these techniques can revolutionize your grocery shopping habits, making it easier to enjoy the natural flavors and nutrients that fresh fruits and vegetables offer. Embrace these simple, effective methods to maximize your produce's shelf life.
