James Butler “WILD BILL” Hickok
Wild Bill Hickok was a true legend in his day.
While working for the Pony Express he became involved in a shoot out that made him famous but not for 7 years after the fact.
He was known for being a great shot, a good man, and a defender of the law.
Wild Bill was shot in Deadwood, SD in 1876 during a game of poker which resulted in the term “dead man’s hand” consisting of the two black aces and two black eights. He did good his entire life.
Buffalo Bill Cody was another employee of the Pony Express as a young boy. Unlike Wild Bill, he actually carried the mochilas containing the letters.
He later became the founder of Cody, Wyoming. He constructed the entire city in the name of entertainment. Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show was easily the greatest and most popular form of entertainment of the time. He was a genuine showman with a mind for business.
His hotel named for his daughter “The Irma” still thrives in Cody, WY and it is said that the ghost of Buffalo Bill still roams there, along with many other supernatural entities.
