... Read moreHey everyone! I'm still buzzing from my incredible find – this Canon Rebel T7, which I snagged at a local pawn shop. For anyone curious about getting into DSLR photography without breaking the bank, a pawn shop can be a treasure trove! When I was looking, I made sure to check a few things: the lens for scratches or dust, the camera body for dents, and the sensor for any spots. Luckily, this black camera with a lens attached was in fantastic condition, even if it wasn't new. After bringing it home, I couldn't wait to test it out. The Canon Rebel T7 is often recommended for beginners, and I can totally see why. It’s super user-friendly, and I found myself easily navigating the settings. My first subjects? Of course, my adorable white and brown spotted dog! We headed out to a dry grassy field near my home, which provided a beautiful natural backdrop with some trees in the distance. One thing I quickly learned about pet photography with the T7 is the importance of shutter speed to freeze action. Dogs, especially playful ones, move fast! I tried to keep my shutter speed higher, around 1/500th of a second, to capture her mid-stride or while she was looking around, her pink harness a bright spot against the dry grass. I also played with aperture to get that nice blurry background, making her really pop. Seeing her stand in the field, sometimes looking slightly left or right, even with a building in the background, felt magical through the viewfinder. If you're just starting with your Canon T7 or any DSLR, don't be afraid to experiment with the different modes. I started with Av (Aperture Priority) to control depth of field and then moved to Tv (Shutter Priority) for action shots. The auto mode is great for quick snaps, but diving into manual or semi-manual modes really opens up creative possibilities. For these shots, I tried to keep the ISO low since it was a bright day, to avoid excessive noise and keep the image quality sharp. I'm so thrilled with the results from my pawn shop Canon Rebel T7. It proves you don't need the latest and greatest to capture stunning moments.
