Carrot halwa is a beloved Indian dessert often made with sugar, but this no sugar added version offers a healthier alternative by harnessing the natural sweetness of carrots and dried fruits. Using whole milk and paneer adds a creamy texture and extra protein, while butter enhances flavor and richness. The blend of almonds, walnuts, raisins, cranberries, and dates not only naturally sweetens the dish but also contributes essential nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and healthy fats. Preparing this dessert is straightforward: peeling and grinding fresh carrots ensures a smooth base that cooks down with milk, cardamom, and butter until thick and luscious. Stirring frequently prevents sticking and helps achieve the perfect consistency. The addition of soaked and chopped dates intensifies the sweetness without refined sugars, making this dessert ideal for those monitoring their sugar intake or seeking guilt-free indulgence. From experience, serving this carrot halwa warm makes it comforting and luscious, while chilling it slightly can offer a refreshing treat on warmer days. You can also experiment by adding your favorite nuts or substituting raisins with sultanas or dried apricots for varied flavors. This recipe is excellent for festive occasions or everyday treats when you crave something naturally sweet and nutritious. Overall, this no sugar added carrot halwa showcases how traditional foods can be made healthier by embracing natural ingredients without compromising on taste, making it a perfect dessert option for health-conscious food lovers.
