STEW STYLE BEEF STAKES WITH FEW INGREDIENTS!

Recipe for a classic pan-seared steak.

The Minimalist Pan-Seared Steak

This method works best for ribeye, New York strip, or filet mignon.

Ingredients

* 2 pounds of Beef Steaks (at least 1 inch thick)

* Salt (Kosher or sea salt is best) as per taste

* Black Pepper, as per taste

* 2 tbsp Neutral Oil (like avocado or vegetable oil)

* 2 tbsp Butter

Instructions

* Prep: Buy freshly cut or Take the steaks out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature. Pat them completely dry with paper towels.

* Season: Generously coat both sides with salt and cracked black pepper.

* The Sear: Heat your oil in a heavy skillet (cast iron is ideal) over high heat until it just begins to smoke.

* Cook: Carefully place the steaks in the pan. For a medium-rare finish, sear for about 3–4 minutes per side without moving them so a crust can form.Add 1 cup of water and cook until tender (Stew Style)

3 bell peppers (sweet papers),

1 large onion peel and cut

* The Finish: During the 10 minutes before cooking, add the butter to the pan. Once it melts, tilt the pan and use a spoon to pour the foaming butter over the steaks repeatedly.

Add onion and paper at least 5–10 minutes before serving.

* The Rest: Cutting into a steak immediately after it leaves the heat will cause all the flavor to run out onto the cutting board. #beefstake #stakes #stake #food #thebakht

... Read moreCooking stew-style beef steaks at home can be incredibly rewarding and surprisingly simple with the right technique. One thing I've learned is the importance of starting with quality beef cuts, such as ribeye or New York strip, which have enough marbling to stay juicy during cooking. Bringing the steaks to room temperature before searing is a small step that makes a big difference in achieving an even cook and a nice crust. In this recipe, adding water to the pan midway through the cooking process transforms the method from a simple pan-sear to a stew-style finish, gently tenderizing the meat and infusing it with moisture. The inclusion of sweet bell peppers and onions not only complements the beef with natural sweetness and aroma but also adds vibrant colors to the dish, making it more appealing on the plate. Using a cast iron skillet is ideal for this recipe because it retains heat well and helps develop a delicious sear. When butter is added near the end, spooning the melted, foaming butter over the steaks (a technique called basting) enhances the flavor and creates a glossy finish. This method also imparts a rich, savory layer to the steak without overpowering the natural beef taste. One tip I'd recommend is resting the steak after cooking for at least 5 to 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, preventing them from spilling out when cutting and keeping every bite moist and flavorful. This step is often overlooked but dramatically improves the eating experience. Overall, this stew-style pan-seared steak method is perfect for those who want a hearty, American-style beef dish that's simple enough to prepare any night but sophisticated enough to impress guests. Experimenting with the level of doneness and adjusting seasoning to your preference will make this recipe a reliable go-to in your cooking repertoire.
