May means more: mental health, lupus & skin cancer awareness 🌸

May 1st is here.... and this month means so much 💜

For me personally, it’s Mental Health Awareness Month, Lupus Awareness Month, and Skin Cancer Awareness Month — all reminders that so many people are fighting battles we don’t always see.

So today, I’m choosing awareness and joy.

They say a shimmy a day keeps the sad away.... 💃

and maybe it’s not about ignoring the hard things....

but giving ourselves a moment to breathe through them.

If this month means something to you too, drop a 💜

... Read moreMay is truly a month that invites us to reflect on important health challenges that many face quietly every day. From my personal experience, acknowledging mental health struggles openly has been a pivotal step toward healing and self-care. Many people don’t realize how pervasive conditions like lupus and skin cancer are, and May’s awareness campaigns help shed light on these invisible battles. One memorable insight I’ve gathered is that taking small moments for yourself—whether it’s a joyful dance or a simple deep breath—can significantly improve your mindset and resilience. The phrase “a shimmy a day keeps the sad away” beautifully captures this idea for me. It’s not about ignoring difficulties but choosing to add light and joy wherever possible. Supporting awareness also means recognizing the symptoms and early signs of skin cancer and lupus. Regular check-ups and skin screenings during this month could be lifesaving. For mental health, reaching out to friends, joining supportive communities, or simply sharing your story can reduce stigma and bring profound connection. Sharing these awareness campaigns on social media and with loved ones is another powerful way to contribute. Encouraging kindness and understanding creates an environment where people feel less alone in their battles. May serves as a reminder that beneath the surface, many of us are fighting unseen battles requiring compassion and attention. Ultimately, May’s combined focus on mental health, lupus, and skin cancer encourages us to choose awareness and joy, live authentically with our struggles, and support one another with empathy and hope.
