As a parent who’s just returned from a long overdue vacation after six years, I can absolutely relate to the feeling of being overstimulated when school starts again. The mess at home ramps up quickly, groceries pile up, and the daily hustle to manage everything can become overwhelming. Taking a break helped me realize how important it is to prioritize self-care, even if it means squeezing in a short getaway. Planning a kid-free trip, like the one coming up in Mexico, creates valuable moments for parents to recharge and reconnect away from the constant demands of parenting. One practical tip I've learned is to prepare as much as possible before the school year starts—meal prepping, organizing school supplies, and setting routines can ease the transition. Also, sharing the workload with your partner or a support network helps manage the inevitable chaos. Traveling after a long hiatus brought unexpected joy, but also reminded me how much I needed that break. Whether it's a weekend away or a longer vacation, giving yourself permission to step back nourishes your mental health and ultimately benefits the whole family. For fellow parents wondering when their last kid-free trip was—if it’s been too long, consider planning even a small escape to reset. Trust me, the mess and grocery delays feel less daunting when you know you’re investing in your well-being. Embrace the craziness and make time for yourself—you deserve it!

The kids had their summer. Now it's our turn. 😎🇲🇽
