... Read moreRunning a half marathon on the Las Vegas Strip is an experience like no other. Starting at the excitement of Mile 2, you feel the energy of the crowd and the dazzling city lights pushing you forward. However, around Mile 7 to Mile 10, many runners, including myself, begin to feel the fatigue setting in—just like the 'starting to fade fast' feeling the OCR text describes. That part of the race is tough, requiring not only physical endurance but also mental strength to keep going. Personally, I found that hydration and pacing made a significant difference. Early in the race, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and go too fast, which leads to the steep decline in performance in the later miles. As described in the mile markers seen ('Mile 9', 'Almost died on nerd cluster'), there are challenging spots on the course where focus is key. By the time I reached Mile 12, exhaustion felt overwhelming—the moment I related to the words 'thinking it was never going to end.' But that last push, the 'delusion crossing' of Mile 13 and finally the finish line, brings a sense of accomplishment that nothing else replicates. If you plan to run this race, I recommend preparing for the heat and crowds, incorporating interval training to build stamina for the middle miles, and pacing yourself realistically to avoid 'going downhill very quickly' as I did. The Las Vegas half marathon is as much a test of willpower as it is of running skill, and crossing that finish line makes every struggle worth it.
