The hardest part isn't just the quiet loneliness of going to bed alone or waking up to an empty spot beside me; it’s that weird phenomenon where the moment he decides to call it a night and actually falls asleep early, my brain suddenly decides it’s prime time to brainstorm world domination or rewatch TikToks. It’s like a cruel joke! We've had to learn to communicate much more openly about our needs. For instance, I used to get a little resentful, feeling like I was missing out on 'couple time' in the evenings. My side of the bed has an eye mask and earplugs ready, while he has his noise-canceling headphones for when I'm already deep in dreamland and he's still up. It's about respecting each other's sleep needs without sacrificing comfort. We also experimented with his late-night activities. He used to watch TV with headphones, but the light could still be disturbing. Now, he often moves to the living room or uses his phone on a low brightness setting if he absolutely *stays up all night*. It’s not always perfect, and there are still nights where I can't fall asleep because I'm overthinking, even when he’s finally crashed. But we’ve learned that compromise and understanding are key. It’s not about forcing one person to change their natural rhythm entirely, but about finding ways to coexist peacefully and maintain our connection despite the differing schedules.
