Are you doom scrolling ?!

5/25 Edited to

... Read moreDoomscrolling is a common habit many of us fall into without realizing the toll it takes on our mental and physical health. From personal experience, I found that endless scrolling through negative news and social media feeds not only drains my energy but also elevates my anxiety and disrupts my sleep patterns. Recognizing this was the first step toward making positive changes. A few practical strategies helped me break the cycle. Setting explicit time limits on social media and creating phone-free routines in the morning and before bed made a significant difference. Instead of reaching for my phone first thing, I started journaling or listening to calming podcasts, which helped reset my nervous system and shifted my focus toward healthy habits. I also curated my feed by unfollowing negative accounts and opting for content that uplifts and motivates. This small tweak reduced exposure to toxic content that spikes stress hormones like cortisol and keeps the mind wired and restless. Grayscale mode on the phone diminished the visual allure of social apps, further reducing the urge to scroll mindlessly. Most importantly, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and taking breaks to stretch or go for walks grounded me physically and mentally. Calling a friend or engaging in hobbies I love replaced the boredom and stress triggers that often lead to doomscrolling. By clearly defining boundaries for digital consumption and consciously investing my attention in meaningful activities, I protected my peace and energy. If you find yourself doomscrolling too much and feeling worse afterward, remember that awareness and small, consistent changes can lead to a healthier mindset and better daily focus. Protect your life by choosing your focus intentionally—your mind and energy are your most valuable currency.
