READERS I’M SORRY!

2025/4/7 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, Lemon8 fam, I need to be real with you all. That tiny post I made wasn't just a fleeting moment of regret – it was a genuine, heartfelt apology bubbling up after some intense reflection on my latest work. When I wrote "It won’t happen again šŸ˜“šŸ¤žšŸ¾," it came from a place of truly understanding some of the feedback I’ve been getting, especially around a particular character, Henry Wall, and that pivotal "heartbreak and a Silverado" scene. Being an author is such a wild ride. You pour your soul into a story, crafting every character, every scene, every emotional beat, thinking you’ve laid it all out perfectly. But then, readers, you bring your own experiences, your own interpretations, and sometimes, what I meant to convey just doesn't land the way I intended. That’s exactly what happened with Henry Wall. I wanted him to be complex, to be flawed, to make choices that would challenge readers, but I’ve heard many of you express feeling sorry for not understanding his motives, or even worse, feeling frustrated by them. And that Silverado moment… I genuinely thought I captured the raw emotion of that particular heartbreak, but it seems I left some of you feeling disconnected or confused. It's humbling, honestly. As authors, we strive to create worlds that resonate, characters that feel real, and plots that keep you turning pages. When I read comments or messages expressing that lack of understanding, it hits hard. It makes me re-evaluate not just specific lines, but my entire approach to character development and pacing. I realized that while my intent was clear in my head, the execution might have left too much room for ambiguity, particularly in such a crucial emotional beat. This isn't about shying away from challenging themes or complex characters; it's about ensuring that the emotional arc and character motivations are accessible, even when they're messy. It’s about bridging that gap between my vision and your experience. So, when I said "It won’t happen again," it wasn't a promise to avoid difficult topics, but a commitment to greater clarity, deeper emotional resonance, and a more robust connection with you, my incredible readers. I'm taking this feedback to heart, truly. I’m diving back into my notes, re-reading my own work through your eyes, and learning how to articulate those nuanced emotions and decisions better. I want to thank you for being so honest with your thoughts. It’s through this kind of open dialogue that authors truly grow. Your engagement, even when it’s critical, makes me a better writer. I promise to keep evolving, to keep listening, and to strive for stories that not only entertain but also connect with you on a deeper, more understandable level. Let’s keep this conversation going – what else did you feel was misunderstood, or what moments truly resonated with you?

Kobo vs Kindle for ARC readers
I wanted Kobo to win for ARCs so bad. But between formatting issues and the extra steps to get some BookFunnel books working properly, it hasn’t been as seamless as I hoped. Meanwhile Kindle lets me send epubs easily, annotate, and sync across devices without thinking twice. For busy ARC readers
