My first Garden, I’m so proud of it! Praying they all grow! #MCNotaries #MobileNotary #PhenixCityAL #genx #gardening
Growing your first garden can be an immensely rewarding experience, especially when you incorporate a variety of plants like sweet potatoes, herbs, and flowers such as marigolds. From personal experience, planting marigolds next to vegetables like cucumbers and collard greens not only adds color but also helps naturally repel pests, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Urban gardening, even on a small scale like a garden bed or pots, requires careful planning. For example, using high-rise or raised garden beds improves drainage and soil quality, which is essential for vegetables like green peppers and lettuce. Also, having herbs like rosemary, thyme, cilantro, parsley, oregano, and mint can enhance the flavors in your kitchen while being easy to grow and maintain. One challenge I faced was ensuring enough space for all plants—such as cucumbers—so getting additional pots is sometimes necessary. Grouping plants with similar water and sunlight needs helps create a thriving garden environment. Finally, patience and daily care, like watering and monitoring plant health, are key to a flourishing garden. Sharing this journey reminds me how satisfying it is to nurture life and witness steady growth from seeds and seedlings.
