Can’t keep this to myself.
One day I caught myself staring at the mirror and thinking,
“What do I actually like? What do I even want anymore?”
I couldn’t answer.
Because for years, I was so focused on being a good wife and a present mom…
…I stopped being me.
I put my hobbies down.
Stopped dressing up.
Stopped dreaming big.
Started living on autopilot, surviving the days, counting down to bedtime.
I love my family deeply. But somewhere along the way, I disappeared into their needs.
And that scared the hell out of me.
So I started doing small things just for me:
💛 Girls trips
💛 Saying no without explaining
💛 Crafting again
💛 Lifting weights
💛 Laughing louder
💛 Healing deeper
I’m still their safe place…but I’m also reclaiming me.
If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost yourself… I just want you to know:
You’re not gone.
You’re just waiting.
Feeling lost in the roles of wife and mother is a common experience many women face, often resulting in a sense of losing touch with their own identity. It’s important to recognize that while caring for family is fulfilling, maintaining personal interests and hobbies is vital for mental health and overall happiness. The realization of being on 'autopilot'—going through the motions without truly engaging with one’s desires—can prompt a necessary and empowering shift. Revisiting activities such as crafting, exercising, or social outings can reconnect individuals with their authentic selves. Small, intentional acts like saying no to obligations without guilt or prioritizing self-care routines help rebuild personal boundaries and confidence. Moreover, embracing this journey acknowledges that reclaiming oneself doesn’t diminish the love or commitment to family but rather enhances it by fostering well-being and balance. It’s a form of healing that deepens emotional resilience and promotes a joyful life beyond survival mode. For many, reading stories of others who have navigated similar paths brings solace and motivation. Whether it’s through online communities, support groups, or personal reflection, the process of rediscovery is an ongoing voyage filled with patience and self-compassion. Remember, feeling lost does not mean you are gone; it means you are on the cusp of rediscovering and reaffirming the unique person you are beyond societal roles. This transformation can lead to a richer, more vibrant life both for yourself and those you cherish.

Ooof the saying no without explaining is a big area of work for me 🙈 I don’t know why I always need to over explain to people. When I should just be confident in my response
