Philly Coffee Review #25

After seeing so many people rave about Loretta's, I finally decided to pop in and see what the buzz was all about for a coffee lover in Philadelphia! My first impression started right from the curb. The exterior of Loretta's, with its charming brick facade and distinctive blue and red sign, instantly made it feel like a cozy neighborhood spot. Stepping inside, the aroma of fresh coffee immediately hit me – always a good sign! I noticed the menu boards hanging above the counter, displaying a tempting array of coffee and tea drinks. Despite being busy, the line moved quickly, thanks to their efficient customer service, which I rated a solid 9/10. The baristas were super friendly and made the ordering process really pleasant. For my first order, I chose their Hot Mocha Latte. The barista handed me a beautiful white cup with intricate latte art swirling on top – a true work of art! Taking that first sip, I immediately understood the 9/10 rating. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, with a rich chocolate flavor that complemented the espresso without overpowering it. Definitely one of the best hot lattes I’ve had in Philly. But the real star of the show for me was the Iced Salted Maple Oatmilk Latte. Oh my goodness, this drink deserves all the hype and its perfect 10/10! Imagine a creamy, perfectly sweet, and slightly salty concoction that just hits all the right notes. I ended up getting one to-go in a clear plastic cup with a blue straw, enjoying it on the go. If you visit Loretta's, this is an absolute must-try – seriously, you won't regret it. It’s the kind of iced coffee that makes you want to come back for more the very next day. Of course, no coffee run is complete without a pastry! I eyed their display case, which was filled with tempting treats like scones, croissants, and hand pies. I decided on the Orange Cranberry Scone, which I gave an 8/10. It was moist, subtly sweet, and had a lovely zest from the orange and tartness from the cranberries. It paired wonderfully with my latte. While the Chocolate Chip Cookie was good (7/10), the scone definitely stole the show. Now, regarding the space itself, I rated it a 6/10. While cozy, it’s not huge, so finding a spot to sit and linger might be a bit tricky during peak hours. It’s definitely more of a grab-and-go spot or a quick stop. However, what it lacks in expansive seating, it makes up for in charm and the overall friendly atmosphere. Price-wise, I gave it an 8/10. For the quality of the drinks and pastries, I felt it was very reasonable for Philadelphia standards. You're getting artisanal coffee and delicious baked goods without breaking the bank, which is a huge plus. Overall, Loretta's Coffee in Philadelphia is a gem, especially for their incredible lattes and delicious baked goods. Whether you're looking for an expertly crafted hot latte with beautiful latte art or an unforgettable iced salted maple oatmilk latte, this place has you covered.
