Planting pollinator-friendly flowers like marigolds, zinnias, or lavender around your vegetable pots can attract bees and butterflies, ensuring your okra and other fruiting plants get the attention they need. For some plants, or if natural visitors are scarce, a simple trick like gently shaking the plant or using a small paintbrush to transfer pollen can help. It's a free, natural way to boost your harvest and enjoy the buzzing life in your garden. Keeping gardening affordable is always a priority for me. Starting plants from seed is incredibly cost-effective compared to buying mature plants. Many flowers and vegetables are surprisingly easy to grow this way. Look for seed swaps or end-of-season sales for great deals. And don't forget about propagation! Plants like pothos are incredibly easy to start from cuttings, giving you new plants for free. Regularly checking your plants for pests and diseases naturally, rather than relying on expensive chemical treatments, also saves money and keeps your garden healthy. Composting kitchen scraps is another fantastic, free way to enrich your soil. Consistent watering is essential, especially for container plants which dry out faster. Pay attention to sunlight – even a small shift in position can make a big difference for light-loving plants. And remember, your garden doesn't need to be perfect.
