The Honest Review-My thoughts on adult friendships
Okay I’m rambling but hear me out..
Although I’m only in my 20’s I’ve learned a lot about adult friendships and relationships, from my personal experiences and perspectives of others personal experiences.
I wonder, do we ever really “grow up” we all create a firm foundation on what our beliefs are and aren’t.
We say people never change so do we ever grow up? We all have our own perception of what “friendship” is but I don’t think we always take into consideration that friendship and relationships are not always going to fit our perception because others think differently too, and have their own mindset friendship. But if our perceptions don’t always align, can we still find common grounds to maintain a relationship??
I feel like this can be simple dynamics too like the friend who wants to be together 24/7 vs a friend who wants to only hangout on weekends, is there a solution for you both to still feel comfortable in a friendship and meet both friends needs?
I love when I go over to family’s or friends family’s house and I hear how different people communicate, talk, gossip, experiences, etc because to me it brings so much light into how much people think differently and their thoughts and experiences can change your perspective of friendships too. Well to say this you could be the exact opposite a person who can listen to people and take in so much advice from people but leave and still stick to what you firm believe or your feelings, but sometimes I hate this personality.
we can be both at the same time, I guess. it’s hard to be open to criticism or different of opinion and sometimes it’s hard to deal with that through friendships.
But that’s what’s hard about friendships when you’re an adult, do you want to tolerate someone’s differences of opinions or is it sometimes easier to just not have friends at times?
What’s your experience as trying to have friendships as an adult or friendships after highschool and college.
Adult friendships can be incredibly complex, often requiring a delicate balance of understanding and compromise. Many adults experience challenges arising from differing communication styles, social needs, and personal expectations. Some friendships thrive on constant interaction, while others prefer more space. This dichotomy can lead to misunderstandings if not addressed openly. Additionally, as we age, our priorities and lifestyles shift, which can strain existing relationships. Exploring differing opinions on friendship is crucial; do we adapt to one another, or do we find it easier to part ways? Relationships can also evolve from those formed in high school or college as friends grow into their adult roles. It's essential to recognize these changes, embracing the idea that friendships may ebb and flow throughout our lives. Ultimately, the key to sustaining adult friendships lies in open communication. Being willing to express your needs while also being receptive to the needs of others can foster a stronger bond. By being honest about your feelings and expectations, you can navigate the intricacies of adult relationships more effectively. This article invites readers to reflect on their own experiences and engage in meaningful discussions about cultivating lasting friendships.
