NOTE: I was provided an ARC by the author.

In her dreams, Syve is a deer. In these dreams, the deer walks the familiar path to the nearby cemetery. And it walks those same 13 steps to a familiar grave. Once there it settles down, occasionally letting out a mournful cry to mingle with the somber air.

In the waking world, Bastien is a wolf shifter. Plagued by a nightmare of his past, the one thing that settles him, and his wolf, is a run through the night that ends at the local cemetery, where he has made quite the hideout for himself.

It’s peaceful, until it isn’t. One night he spots a deer among the graves. She looks through him, as though it wouldn’t matter if he was there or not, if his wolf attacked or not. He doesn’t know why, but as time passes, he goes to the cemetery, hoping to see her.

And though Syve and Bastien slightly interact during the daylight hours, it’s not until Syve’s dreams are revealed to be more than dreams that they really see each other.

Will Savy and Bastien be able to help each other through their respective grief? Or are both of their dreams already six feet under?

I enjoyed “Forget Me Not.” Sharpe’s writing is both humorous and tender. Certain descriptions had me laughing out loud while others had me near tears. But, her writing shines through her characters.

They really are the star of the show, and I found their reactions to their circumstances, grounded and understandable. While Syve is suffering from depression, Bastien is wracked with guilt. Syve’s friends are understanding and sensitive to her condition, while Bastien’s family seems more put together on the surface, but is broiling towards conflict underneath it all. Their dealings with their own, and each other’s, emotional states make for some of the best passages of the book.

I only wish there were more of it. Like other books, I have reviewed, “Forget Me Not” contains passages that tell and do not show. Which is a shame, as there are conversations and events I would have liked to be present for. There are great moments in this book of all consuming grief and heart pounding tension. Sharpe clearly has the skill to write these scenes, so it was frustrating to read a summation of these events rather than experience the events themselves.

Still, I cannot say I did not enjoy the book any less for these scenes. This is the first in a series for sharp, and if the next book is as good, as I believe it will be, then I cannot wait to see how the story and the writing both progress.

So if you are a fan of shifter romance, healing that comes after grief, strong friendships, delightful character, interaction, slow burns, and a little bit of chest hair, “Forget Me Not” should absolutely be added to your TBR!

“Forget Me Not” releases tomorrow, 09/17/25. Make sure to show sharp some love for this debut!
