Of the three lippies I got to try from Etude, this was my second favorite. The only reason I didn’t like it quite as much was that I felt it made the dry skin on my lips show up and become more noticeable. It was a lightweight and comfortable lip option. And it has decent lasting power like the Fixing Tint. It’s available on Amazon for less than $10.

... Read moreOkay, so let's talk more about getting the most out of your K-beauty lip tint, especially if you're like me and sometimes struggle with dry lips! When I first tried this Etude Dear Darling Tint, I noticed it really clung to any dry patches, which wasn't the look I was going for. But I've learned a few tricks that make a huge difference.
First things first, lip prep is key! Before applying any lip tint, I gently exfoliate my lips. You can use a dedicated lip scrub or even just a soft toothbrush with a bit of lip balm. After exfoliating, I apply a thin layer of a hydrating lip balm and let it sink in for a few minutes. Then, I blot off any excess before going in with the tint. This creates a smoother canvas and helps the color apply more evenly without emphasizing dryness.
Now, about application for that perfect K-beauty look! For a subtle wash of color or a gradient effect, I like to apply a small dot of the Etude Dear Darling Tint to the inner part of my lips, then gently blend it outwards with my fingertip or a small brush. This gives a soft, diffused look, and you can build up the intensity as desired. For a full-coverage look, apply it directly to your entire lip. The clear tube makes it easy to see the shade, and the applicator is quite precise.
One thing I really appreciate about this lip tint is its decent lasting power. As the OCR mentions, you get that 'freshly applied' look initially, but it then settles into a lovely 'matte stain left from wear'. I've found that even after a meal or a few hours, there’s still a noticeable 'stain after wear' – especially if you've prepped your lips well. It's not completely transfer-proof, but the stain ensures you still have color, which is a big win for me!
Many of you search for 'Etude water tint swatches' or 'Etude tint review,' and while this is the Dear Darling Tint, it shares many characteristics with other popular Etude water tints. They're known for their vibrant, juicy colors and comfortable, lightweight feel. If you're curious about specific shades like 'tomato' or 'sweet cinnamon' from other Etude lines, I'd suggest looking for swatches online to see how they compare. Generally, Etude's tints deliver a beautiful, long-lasting wash of color that's perfect for everyday wear.
To get the most out of your swatches, remember that lip tints can look different on various skin tones and lip undertones. When I do swatches, I often apply a fresh swatch and then smudge another one to show the stain effect, similar to what you see in the images – that 'just applied' and 'stain after wear' comparison is so helpful! Experiment with how you apply it to find your perfect custom stain. This tint is a fantastic budget-friendly option for anyone wanting to dive into K-beauty lip products!
