GLIDR Eye Pencil by ABH One Min Review

I loved the color of this eyeshadow pencil. In some lights it looked blue, in others green, although it's described as a metallic teal. It applied smoothly with no skin tugging. As a result, I'm giving this three out of five stars. The reason two stars was taken off is because no matter what I did, this shadow creased. To be honest, it did it basically immediately after being applied to my eyes. Whether it was on top of a primer, whether there was no primer. If I applied this by itself, if I blended it out with my finger, if I blended it out with a makeup brush, even if I applied a powder based eyeshadow on top. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, unless I applied it as just an eyeliner (ie not to me whole eye lid). There were enough things that I enjoyed about it to give it three stars still. But I can't see myself rushing to get a different color from this line because it didn't work out for me.
I totally get the frustration when you find a beautiful eyeshadow stick like the ABH GLIDR in Sirena, with its stunning metallic teal that shifts from blue to dark green – a real duochrome dream! But then, *bam*, creasing happens. If you're like me and have struggled with eyeshadow creasing, especially with cream or stick formulas, you're definitely not alone. It's one of the most common makeup woes, and it can really spoil an otherwise perfect look. So, why do eyeshadows crease, anyway? Often, it comes down to a few factors. Our eyelids naturally produce oils, and when these oils mix with the product, it can break down the formula, causing it to settle into the fine lines of our lids. Gravity also plays a role! Plus, some cream or stick eyeshadows are formulated to be emollient and blendable, which can unfortunately make them more prone to creasing if not properly set. After my experience with the GLIDR stick, where despite its 'no tugging during application' smoothness and gorgeous color, it still creased almost immediately, I’ve picked up a few tricks over the years. First off, a good eye primer is usually your best friend. But as my review mentioned, even with primer, this particular stick still gave me trouble! So, if primer alone isn't cutting it, try applying a very thin layer of the eyeshadow stick. Seriously, less is more. Build up the color gradually instead of going in with a thick swipe. Another game-changer for many is setting your cream or stick eyeshadow with a powder shadow in a similar shade. I tried this with the GLIDR stick, and while it helped a little, it wasn’t a complete fix for me. But for other formulas, this technique can lock everything in place and extend wear time significantly. You can also try 'baking' your eyelids lightly with a translucent setting powder after applying your eyeshadow stick and before setting it with a powder shadow. This can absorb excess oil and create a smoother, more resilient base. What if, like me, your beautiful metallic teal stick just isn't performing as an all-over lid shade? Don't toss it! As I found, the ABH GLIDR stick 'worked better for me as an eyeliner.' And honestly, its vibrant shifting duochrome would make a killer pop of color along the lash line. You can use it to create a bold winged liner or smudge it out slightly for a softer, smoky effect. It can also be fantastic for the lower lash line to add an unexpected twist to your eye look, or even just for a touch of color on the inner corner if the shade allows. Ultimately, navigating eyeshadow stick performance can be a bit of trial and error. While I gave the GLIDR stick 3 out of 5 stars because of its creasing, its stunning Sirena shade and smooth application still make it a worthwhile addition to my makeup bag, even if it's reserved for eyeliner duty. Don't be afraid to experiment with different application methods and uses to get the most out of your products!
