For my popcorn stand, I focused on making the popcorn itself look fluffy and overflowing. I found that red and white terracotta or concrete blocks work wonders for that classic cinema look. And if you have time, adding little details like a ticket booth or a small counter can really elevate your build from good to great. Then there was the 'Ghost Build' – a classic spooky theme! For this, the shape is everything. I aimed for a flowing, ethereal look rather than just a blocky figure. White concrete or wool for the main body is a given, but playing with grey or light blue glass panes behind it can give a fantastic translucent effect, making it seem like it's truly floating. For the eyes and mouth, simple black concrete or obsidian squares work perfectly to create that iconic ghostly expression. Think about adding a subtle glow with sea lanterns or glowstone hidden inside to make it even more eerie, especially if the build battle happens at night! Beyond these, themes like 'Sandwich Build' or 'Wheel' also push your creativity. For the sandwich, layering different colored blocks for bread, lettuce, tomato, and cheese is key to making it look appetizing. Think about the texture too – smooth concrete for cheese, wool for bread, and maybe some darker blocks for crust. And for a 'Wheel,' whether it's a wagon wheel or a Ferris wheel, focusing on symmetry and structural integrity (even if it's just aesthetic) makes a huge difference. I even tried a 'Campfire' build, which was surprisingly tricky to make look realistic with logs and flickering flames using red/orange glass. My biggest takeaway from any Build Battle is planning. Even if you only have a few minutes, a quick mental sketch or block palette choice can save you precious time. Don't be afraid to experiment with different block types for textures and colors you might not usually use. Sometimes, the most unexpected block combination creates the best effect! Also, remember that presentation matters. If your build is symmetrical, try to make it perfectly so. If it's organic, make sure it looks natural.
